Points for handbook sections are calculated by the values set in Club > Setup > Points. An amount can be set for required sections and for extra credit (not required) sections for each club. Sometimes a section is easier or harder than other sections and clubs would like to award more or less points for that specific section.


To adjust the points for a specific section, go to Admin > Curriculum.

  1. Select a handbook from the list on the left. The details are shown on the right.
  2. Go to the Sections page for the selected handbook.
  3. Select the specific section to adjust points and click the pencil to edit the record.
  4. Use the "Additional Points" field to indicate how the default points should be adjusted. Enter a positive number to increase the section's value or a negative number to decrease the section's value.
  5. Save the change.


Example:


For T&T, the extra credit sections are currently set to receive 10 points. I would like the individual Mission: Pray & GO sections to only be worth 5 points, but the Awana GO section (completion of all GO requirements) I would like to be 25 points.


  1. In Admin > Curriculum, select a T&T book, like Evidence of Grace w/Start Zone.
  2. Go to the Sections page. All of the sections in the book are listed. Use the dropdown arrow next to the Group column and check the box next to "Mission: Pray & GO!". This limits the records in the table to only the Pray & Go sections.
  3. Select the first record and click the pencil.
  4. Set Additional Points to -5. The default extra credit amount (10 points) will be decreased (negative number) by this amount (5 points). The result will be this section only earns 5 points instead of 10.
  5. Save the change.
  6. Repeat for the other Pray & GO sections.
  7. When finished, clear the filter for the Group column that limits it to only Pray & Go.
  8. Select the Awana GO section and click the pencil to edit the record.
  9. Set Additional Points to 15. The default extra credit amount (10 points) will be increased (positive number) by this amount (15). The result will be this section earns 25 points instead of 10.
  10. Save the change.
